As you step inside Café Monk, you are welcomed by the comforting scent of freshly ground coffee beans mingling with the soft notes of classical German music that sets a relaxing backdrop. The café exudes a retro German vibe adorned with an array of intriguing protestant symbols, creating an engaging and thought-provoking space where culture and coffee collide.

One of the café's unique selling points is its extensive coffee menu, described by customer Jenny Dean as "a literal book." Each coffee experience here is not merely about quenching thirst but about savoring each sip. Patrons can customize their drinks based on their preferences, as noted by Matthias, who praises the owner's extensive knowledge and ability to recommend coffees that align with individual tastes. Customers consistently rave about their experiences at Café Monk. Lore Adriaensen highlights the delicious coffee and the warm hospitality of the owner, who goes above and beyond by assisting with transportation after your visit. The café’s unique offerings, such as the green (unroasted) coffee from Hawaii that Jenny enjoyed, showcase innovative flavors with a smooth finish, reminiscent of fine tea but with a definitive coffee essence. This peculiar approach to coffee has left a mark on many guests, including Antoine Reserbat, who describes his drink as one of the most intriguing he has ever tasted.

What makes Café Monk stand out is more than just the coffee; it’s the rich experience embedded in every visit. As Justin Taylor points out, the café’s light and medium roasts ensure a delightful encounter without the burnt or overly acidic aftertaste often found in mainstream coffee. This conscious attention to the brewing process enhances the overall experience, making every visit feel like a journey into the world of coffee.

In conclusion, if you find yourself exploring Hiroshima, make sure Café Monk is on your itinerary. With its knowledgeable staff, rich selection of coffees, and unique ambiance, it invites you not only to enjoy a cup but also to embrace a shared passion for quality brews and delightful conversation.

We had a delicious coffee and the man who runs the place is super friendly. He even got us a cab afterwards. The coffee itself was very good and we can only recommend this place to others.

The nice old man who works there knows his coffee well. You can pretty much customize your coffee as much as you like. He even has recommendations according to your tastes. The cafè has a very retro German vibe with lots of protestant symbols and classical German music.

Unique spot with an overwhelming coffee menu. Wish we had spent more time in Hiroshima just for this. The coffee selection is a literal book and preparation requires some patience. We had a green (unroasted) coffee from Hawaii. It had certain qualities like tea but finished with a definite coffee flavor. I enjoyed the experience of each sip. The owner was extremely knowledgeable but also interested. I'm sure he has something for everyone.

I think they make light or medium roast, as it was smooth and didn't have the burnt or acidic aftertaste that most mainstream coffees have.
